"Chase the Dark" by Annette Marie, my final thoughts

Finished Chase the Dark by Annette Marie and it was an interesting ending, I'll say the least. Not what I expected, but it's a decent set up for the second book which I hope to get sometime soon. But I do have a bunch of books I still need to get to. But anyways, I'll start off by saying I just love the cover. The colors and the whispyness of the design makes it look mysterious and entices curiosity. The cover is what drew me to the book in the first place. I just wanted to say that I loved the cover.

Now to the actual story. I know I kind of said a summary earlier but I'll write another one since this is my final review. This story is written in third person following a girl named Piper. But even though it's in third person, we occasionally get internal thoughts of Piper, which I thought was a little strange at first, but it kind of worked, and it wasn't too often so it wasn't distracting. But after the first 2 times I started to pick up on it a little more. But it did not hinder my reading experience. Ok, sorry I got off track. Now, Piper ends up becoming a fugitive with two men, Ash and Lyre. Ash is a daemon who is feared by like everyone and Lyre is an incubus who tries to seduce Piper even though he knows she'll reject him. It's in his nature even though he's only teasing her most of the time. But while they are trying to clear their names and no longer be fugitives, Piper becomes conflicted about her feelings towards Ash. Ash ends up saving her life several times and she can't understand why but she's thankful that he has but she also knows that she cannot trust him and that he is very dangerous. I'm pretty sure some of this will be explained more in the second book even though as the reader I can see that Ash has feelings for her but she just can't see it right now. At least that is what I'm guessing, I could be wrong.

The world building was great, but I loved her characters even better. The author did a wonderful job describing the characters and making them all unique and believable. I really enjoyed this book and  I can't wait to get the next book, and the third book comes out in March which is exciting. I'm going to rate this book 4.5/5 on goodreads.com. I hope you pick this book up if you are thinking about it. It's a great fast read.

The next book I am going to be reading is Dept. of Reproductive Management by Kelly A. Wilson. I won this book in a goodreads.com giveaway a few weeks ago and I'm just now getting to it. Oh, and just a heads up, I am having a friend visiting this weekend so I probably won't get much reading done. So I probably won't be posting much until Monday perhaps. Happy reading everyone :)
